The 6th International Symposium on Advanced Microscopy and Theoretical Calculations (AMTC-6) will be held from June 14 to 15, 2019, at WINC AICHI in Nagoya City. It is the 6th in a biannual series which began in 2008. AMTC-1, AMTC-2, AMTC-3, AMTC-4 and AMTC-5 each consisted of around 130 presentations (30 oral and 100 posters), with approximately 300 participants from around 20 countries. The symposium series is organized by the Japan Fine Ceramics Center (JFCC) to provide regular opportunities to discuss state-of-the-art techniques and researches involving advanced microscopy, theoretical calculations and analysis methods for development of new materials.

Scope and Aims

Materials properties depend strongly on nano-scale structures. Interfaces, surfaces, defects, and their interactions with impurities and dopants play an important role in determining the performance of advanced materials. It is now possible to analyze materials quantitatively at the atomic scale using advanced microscopy and theoretical calculations. Information provided by these methods will make possible the efficient design of new materials with outstanding properties, stimulating new concepts in materials creation. Ultimately these activities should contribute to protection of the natural environment and sustainable societal development.
The aim of this symposium is to bring together researchers from industry and academia, including students, and provide a valuable opportunity for a robust exchange of opinions on the latest findings in the areas of microscopy, theoretical calculations, and associated fields.
